I believe it important that both believers and unbelievers understand the difference between the teaching of Eckhart Tolle and Christianity. Here's a brief post to introduce you to a few of the significant differences. (Note, I've just been exposed to Tolle, but it doesn't seem to take long to discern the differences) Context (the problem)Taken from here .: Despite Oprah and Eckhart's reduction of Christianity to but one "way" amongst many other equally legitimate ways to God, and their calling Christ a "revolutionary" who has been misunderstood by the Church, and who simply came to manifest "Christ-consciousness", a quick search through the internet reveals that many Christians are following Oprah in attempting to fuse together the teachings of Eckhart, and the doctrines of the historical Christian church. Thanks for posting this! It deserves a broad viewing.
ReplyDeleteIt should not surprise anyone that there's been a great deal of advance "criticism" on atheist and humanist websites in response to both the first showing (& activities surrounding it), this is in accord with the fear these speakers address. Opponents of the movie, however, in their frontal attacks will not have the final word. Frankly, while there's an attempt on many levels of society to put a stop to inquiry and speech, I'm glad to see these venues (movies, U-Tube, blogs, etc.) being used for good.
I am very much looking forward to Ben Stein's movie 'Expelled' - looks like some great food for thought! I watched some stuff on it and was quite appalled at the treatment he did get about just trying to put this movie out. I will be more than glad to watch it!
ReplyDeleteThe only person I can think of that is of drier wit and intelligence than Stein is Sproul... and I could listen to him for hours.
